At The Garage Group, we’re on a mission to unlock courage in leaders required to keep their brand portfolios relevant and growing in the face of uncertainty.
We created the Courageous Minds Only Community to give corporate leaders courage, inspiration, and ideas for building the future in an uncertain world.
Jason Hauer, Co-founder and Head of Growth at The Garage Group, and Founder of the Courageous Minds Only Community recently led an inspiring conversation in Chicago at 1871 with top leaders to dig into their lessons learned on operating with courage in the face of uncertainty:

This conversation was so packed with inspiration and insights we couldn't fit it all on one page...
We're digging into Mindsets for Navigating the Unknown with this recap and you can follow along at the bottom for additional courage, inspiration, and ideas.
Recap 3 of 5: Mindsets for Navigating the Unknown
Quick note from Jason:
“It’s better to be in the arena, getting stomped by the bull, than to be up in the stands or out in the parking lot.”
― Steven Pressfield, The War of Art
I'm a big fan of Pressfield and his "get in the arena mentality." I always go back to his work when I'm feeling stuck or uninspired in the face of tough challenges, and am reminded pros don't wait for inspiration, they jump into the arena and get to work, that's where inspiration, progress, and great works come from. If you're feeling uninspired or stuck, following the advice from MSJ, Lindsay, Dondeena, and Michelle below will get you on the right path...I'm rooting for you!!
MSJ on courage to operate from a different playbook...
Lindsay on the responsibility to do hard things...
MSJ on seeking feedback on your ideas to build your confidence...
Lindsay on seeking insight in moments of ambiguity...
MSJ on being okay with making mistakes...
Michelle on faking it until you make it...
Dondeena on being a journalist in your new role to accelerate understanding...
Commitment to action:
With the Courageous Minds Only Community...
It’s not enough to just show up and watch...
Our encouragement is to internalize what you watched (+ rewatch a couple of times and include your team)...
And, truly commit to taking at least one insight or perspective that impacts you and putting it into action...
Make yourself, your team, and your company better...
If you’re committed to that, you’ll take action!
Think about the projects you're working on right now...identify one where you feel the tension of perfection over progress. Reach out for feedback to accelerate progress and to build your confidence.
And, re: Lindsay's point on a leader's responsibility to do hard things...are you sitting on a hard decision or an important conversation? Why? What can you do to accelerate progress?
